Nezumi sat down on one of the dirty couches, one leg crossed over the other as a sense of nonchalance filled the air surrounding him. Was he affected by Inukashi’s obvious anger? Hardly. Nezumi was used to these mood swings, hell, most of the time he was the one inducing them. It was always fun to get the other riled up; after all, amusement was hard to come by in West Block.
“Right, sure you have… You’ve probably been making Shion Jr. pick up the slack,” Nezumi smirked as he leaned back into the cushions, one arm draping across the top of the sofa. “Though he’s a little young for cleaning up after mutts, wouldn’t you say~?”
Nezumi laughed as he watched her grit her teeth, anger seeping from every pore on her scrawny little body. “Settle down, you look like you’re going to have a heart attack! I know my presence is overwhelming, but I never pegged you as one of Eve’s fanatics.”
The smirk on the raven haired man’s face faded after a while, especially at the mention of how dirty West Block was. What exactly was she implying? “You’re right, I won’t deny it,” Nezumi shrugged, seemingly unaffected by her words. He then leaned his head back so that he was staring at the crumbling ceiling, grey eyes studying bits of falling plaster curiously. It’d only be a matter of time before this place caved in, too, along with the remaining pieces of the hell he had been forced to grow up in. “However, despite how much of a joy it is to be in your presence, I’m actually here on business.” Nezumi then looked over to her, his eyes narrowing slightly.
“Shion.. wanted me to check up on the runt. Said he hasn’t seen you guys in a while, and wanted me to deliver some rolls from his mama’s bakery.” Nezumi scoffed, still in a bit of disbelief of this current predicament. Never in a million years did he think he would be back here, helping Inukashi out of his own free will…. although Shion was behind it all, so Nezumi could at least take comfort in that fact.
Inukashi raised her hands slightly as if she were just going to pounce and strangle him, though even trying that would end up in an all out brawl she would eventually lose. One of the dogs that had been lounging on the couch behind her had raised it’s head and begun to growl, she glanced back and fixed her posture some at the mention of Shion Jr. Had they really chosen that as a name? She didn’t think it was quite befitting for it…
Before she even knew what happened, her temper had calmed and she was wondering how the child was doing. She raised a hand to her head to mess with the side of her hair, pulling her lips back into a scowl as he scoffed. There was no telling why the mention of the child seemed to calm her, perhaps it was just maternal instincts. That thought was actually almost amusing, that she could care for anything other than her family.
Continuing to scowl in his direction, she walked away from the room without telling him where she was going. If he was stupid enough to actually wonder where she was going, she’d truly misjudged him. Up the stairs and to another one of her rooms she sometimes used for business, there was a small bundle of loose cloth, around it was a dog, it’s muzzle pressed to it’s head. She shook her head and scoffed, this damned baby was annoying to keep up with, but it didn’t cry as much as she thought it would. The only part she truly dreaded was changing it.
A grimace found it’s way to her lips before she could even take her mind away from that, and she dipped down, scooping up the child and placing it into her arms before pulling away the cloth from it’s face, looking down at it. “You’re a lotta damn work, ya know that?” She grinned as it reached a hand up and grabbed onto her hair. Why’d she picked up the kid? Oh yeah, the asshole was downstairs. She quickly made her way back down, child in arms as she walked back into the room. “The kid’s fine, an ass load of work, but he’s fine. Did you two really decide on the name Shion Jr.?” She scoffed, “Creative shitheads.” A grin worked onto her lips as she stepped in front of him, “Why don’t ya take the kid back to Wonderboy? Then you wouldn’t have to run errands over here.” That was an easy way to get the kid out of her hair.
Shion was too happy to see the other to take any offense at the nickname he was called. He had gotten used to it long ago anyways.
“I’m fine, too! We’re still working on the rebuilding of— hey! Nezumi isn’t an asshole!” Shion wanted to frown, but he felt it turn into a pout somewhere along the way. “… Yeah, he’s around.”
That bright and cheery attitude was pissing her off, but somewhere along the lines it became all too contagious. She felt as if she might have to take a step or two backwards just to gain enough bearing not to smile. At his pout though, she couldn’t help but laugh again.
“Yeah yeah, whatever ya say,” She blew air past her lips in a small effort to move the ever present hair in her face just a little bit out of her line of vision before her eyes moved back over to him. First they saw the pout, before moving up to his eyes and the red marking on his cheek, and from what she knew, it traveled down the rest of his body. A constant reminder of the pain he’d gone through, and yet he still managed to be this cheery. She shook her head and looked away, he truly was an idiot.
“Tell the bastard I’ve been meaning to speak with him! He thinks he can just go ‘round trying to avoid me? Pffft.”
“Oh please,” Nezumi rolled his eyes before smirking, finding what she was saying to be beyond hilarious. “You’d be dead in seconds flat if you even attempted to sneak up on me again, and you know it.”
“Ahahah…. missed you, aye? I think you’ve been living in that shit hole of a hotel for far too long, Inukashi, the fumes over there must’ve gotten to your head,” Nezumi laughed loudly, his arms folding across his chest as he regarded the dog keeper.
“…Did you just call Shion my boy-toy? Isn’t that endearing.. jealous I’ve spent more time with him lately than you have? I’m sure that family of yours is awfully dirty without Shion around~”
Inukashi felt her eye begin twitching as soon as he began to bad mouth the hotel. Of course she knew it was a shit hole, the entire damned town was. But she ran it, and she’d be damned if another human down talked it right to her face. Lips curling into a scowl as he laughed, she watched him, half-warily as he continued speaking. At his last sentence, her nearly famous temper was rearing it’s head.
“JEALOUS? WHO THE HELL DO YA TAKE ME FOR? I’VE DONE DAMNED WELL WITHOUT THAT CLUELESS BOY ‘ROUND TO HELP ME!” She took a half-step forward, as if it would intimidate him. Then again, she knew this cruel bastard enough to know that nothing scared him. Or at least, she didn’t think anything did. Taking a breath, she grit her teeth before opening her eyes again, the glare not losing any of it’s previous fury.
“Everything here is dirty, Nezumi,” She spat out his name, hoping he’d remember just exactly where he’d gotten it. “Ya should know that better than some of us.”
